Finlay - Eyewear Artisans
ola - British paper goods
Finlay is a British eyewear brand born with a rebellious spirit when it comes to designing frames. The collection is inspired by a desire to create frames which celebrate the individuality of our wearers.
Adopting the long-established techniques of eyewear artisans located in the foothills of the Italian Alps, we work with expert craftsmen and women to lovingly create each frame.
Quarter Horse Coffee - Bean to cup
ola is a British paper goods brand established in 2013 by designer Katy Goutefangea.
Working exclusively with UK makers, ola produce beautiful everyday items with an emphasis on craft, quality and traditional manufacture.
Each item is a celebration of pattern and simplicity. Informed by elements of architecture and abstract geometry, and inspired by artists such as Sol Lewitt, Anni Albers and Donald Judd.
Knnox - Design, quality & functionality
Documenting the roasting process for Quarter Horse Coffee recently, such a satisfying experience to see Nathan take the beans from their original state all the way through to a perfect cup of coffee. It’s always a pleasure to shoot too.
Awling - Considered, functional & individual
“Our journey began with an idea to reimagine light based on a modern and sophisticated design, this led to our first product being introduced in July 2018.
We felt that the value of light had been lost, buried underneath a disposable society, mass production and outdated products. Following three key principles: design, quality and functionality, we were able to create a lighter made to last and one suitable for our time.”
High Contrast House - Intervention Architecture
The Awling design approach blends traditional English leather goods materials and techniques with simple functionality and a modern aesthetic.
Our designer has 25 years’ creative experience in the leather goods industry, this is apparent in our understated yet confident design style. During the creative process details are pared back and distilled to their essence. This simplification creates a strong aesthetic and also highlights the quality of our materials.
We aimed to capture this ethos in our shoot.
Brooks England - C-13 Saddle Campaign - Winter 18/19
Inspiration for the rear extension has stemmed from its context, a garden of mature timbers and greenery. The pitched roof mirrors existing roof pitches, a simple form enhancing the shaping of the existing site, within this conservation area.
G.F Smith - Colorplan Labels - "Suspension"
Climbing amongst the peaks of Shropshire, we found the ideal location to document the new C-13 saddle for Brooks England. The goal was to show the texture, technicality and durability of the product whilst exploring the outdoor environment. With a unique water resistant woven fabric, the new C-13 comes in both black and white, we look forward to sharing the rest of the campaign with the black series soon.
Cultures of Giving - Takeo paper's exhibit at the G. F. Smith Showspace, designed by Anyhow Studio
We began 2019 with another assignment from the good people at G.F Smith and Colorplan. To help launch their new label collection we were asked to take their latest products into the studio and see what we could come up with! We always work to a brief with G.F Smith, however we inevitably end up experimenting with concepts throughout the project to come up with new and interesting compositions.
Haroon Mirza - "Reality is somehow what we expect it to be" - IKON Gallery
“The rituals of offering presents in paper ave connected cultures and united people throughout history. Today, in the digital age, paper’s special qualities as an analogue, tactile material are even more pronounced. In a world filled with so much technology, we wanted to highlight old-fashioned ways of presenting gifts bring us together. On display until December 21st.”
Interior study - KIN Home
“This is the most comprehensive exhibition of work by Haroon Mirza in the UK to date, filling Ikon’s exhibition spaces with moving imagery, sculptural installation and electronic sound. Involving smart sampling, sometimes through collaboration with other artists, Mirza’s practice overall is characterised by a knowing eclecticism and sheer physical impact.”
Workshop visit - MJM Bespoke
'“Spotting an opportunity in his hometown of Birmingham for a design-led lifestyle store, Lewis Jenkins decided to open Kin Home. Stocking a hand-selected range of homewares, gifts and stationery, we hope to be the perfect location for shoppers seeking beautiful, functional items that you won't find everywhere else.”
The Hedge - Concept store - home goods & gift shop
Having worked with Matt for a while now, he recently tasked us with the project of pulling all his projects together and curating them online. With a focus on abstract imagery, details of his craft and a general overview of his projects, we paid a visit to his workshop to see him and his team putting together some bespoke carpentry for a new shop install in Birmingham.
MONC London - Supporting true craftsmanship
We captured some imagery of the charmingly eclectic ‘The Hedge’ this week in conjunction with a project we are bringing together for MJM Bespoke Fabrications. The store is full of charm and character, enticing visitors to delve into their archives. The dark atmosphere photographed beautifully.
Penthouse - Allect Design Group
Below are some still life images taken from a recent shoot with MONC London. MONC is “a British brand with a distinct design outlook. MONC was founded in London, by British designer Freddie Elborne with an aim to celebrate the creative process and the people behind it.” We loved how this shoot turned out as we focussed on form and the sculptural elements of his frames.
An introduction to Focal - Interior studies, Farmer J restaurant for Biasol
Last week we shot with Rigby & Rigby Architects to capture one of their latest interior projects. This duplex penthouse was designed with a cool contemporary palette and dramatic dark textures, a real pleasure to shoot.
In the studio with Brooks England
Here at handover we recently opened a subsidiary branch to the business, Focal. Our aim was to focus on the interior and architecture side of the company and give ourselves a platform to curate and promote this. A recent shoot with the talented Biasol interior design studio of Melbourne led to the perfect opportunity for us to cross promote our latest venture.
Journal entry : Lisbon
We were recently tasked with highlighting some product features for the good guys at Brooks. With their new C17 saddle crafted from a custom durable linen fabric and their latest technical backpack offering, we captured some still life shots to shed light on the product’s details
A recent trip to Lisbon led to a bountiful haul of imagery. A vibrant city with endless detail and excitement, from food to history to architecture, you really are spoilt for choice. This visit was prompted by countless positive recommendations and didn’t disappoint. Take a look at some of the stills captured across a four day visit, just long enough to enjoy but maybe not long enough to fully explore what is on offer…
